Mi idea cuando comencé en el carnaval era que los niños no tenían que gastar nada, tenían que improvisar con el disfraz; los vestía- mos con hojas y objetos que recolectábamos en la playa, lo importante era que ellos aprendieran las canciones… La competencia era escoger a una reina en el ensayo y la niña que mejor bail- aba ganaba, dos niños la cargaban y llevaban bailando mientras nosotros le cantábamos. La cosa es tratar de disfrutar lo que en esencia es un carnaval. When I started working with children at Carnival, my idea was that they wouldn't have to spend a dime. They had to improvise their costumes. We dressed themwith leaves, shells, and objects that we found on the beach. The important thing was that they learned the songs ... The competition was to choose a queen in the rehearsal and the girl who danced the best won, two children would carry her dancing while we sang to her.
